To become more resilient as a developer, avoid skipping leg day
Okay, don’t get me wrong here. I am not yet that far with Christianity that I would go confessing something there. But I need to get that out. I am guilty. I am guilty of it. I did not maintain my Gitea instance for about 3 months. That means, I skipped leg day for Gitea in about 12 times in a row! OMG. You won’t believe what happened…
The server is diverging one week in terms of system time from all other servers. Like, how is that even possible? Did I sleep for a week and didn’t notice? Was it the reason I was laid off? Like WTF? The 2FA is broken, the display manager is broken, one can’t back up the database and four repositories are showing a data error while trying to clone them. Nasty! And it wasn’t even connected to the “evil” internet. Yet, it is a miracle that the server still works.
Do not skip leg day! Remember this! That was a fairly short article to remind you to always do leg day.
