The SaaS Myth

Software as a service — what is that even? Software is as much of a service as a screwdriver. Both are a product. You don’t want to care about making your own screwdriver — well, then buy one. Great.

Why is SaaS even useful? The usefulness is, of course, for sellers to have more revenue available from their customers to justify future developments.

But can you sell a screwdriver that is only half working by convincing your clients to rent it for a year, promising you will make it work better within the year? Well yes, it is not impossible, but it is hard. And just imagine they forgot to cancel the subscription. They will have to rent it for another year.
